Many of the injured tell of hearing the loud blast then rushing to look out the window only in time to have the glass to come crashing in. Why would the sound waves travel faster than the shock wave? Deloy
I think they saw the flash first, not heard the blast. Can you make sure of that, DeLoy? ________________________________ From: D P Pierce <starsbirdsglyphs@gmail.com> To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 7:17 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Meteorite damage in Russia Many of the injured tell of hearing the loud blast then rushing to look out the window only in time to have the glass to come crashing in. From the videos I've seen, the first sound arrived with the shockwaves. I think most were drawn to the flash and/or the giant contrail first. With a 3-4 minute delay, there was plenty of time for folks to make phone calls, etc. to get others to take a look.
