Comet animation from this morning
Here's an animation I put together from several images I took this morning as Deep Impact / EPOXI approached the comet: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=3993 patrick
Patrick: I love the comet animation. Thank you for posting it. I hate to make my ignorance so obvious but, what is the name of "diamond ring" looking asterism just to the right of where the comet is first shown? Wayne

Thank you.

I noticed that too. But it's so small I doubt it has a name. Remember that the FOV of the entire image is on 18x26 arc minutes. patrick
Another great one, Patrick! I tried to image it this morning too. I had the telescope connected to The Sky, and when I told it to slew to the comet, it did nothing for a long time. Then it suddenly slewed across the sky and kept slewing. I think it was moving in a sort of circular way to zero in on the location, but after a long time I just gave up and made it quit that.
