Patrick, Thanks for offering your HorseHead data to play with. If nothing else I have learned 15 different ways not to process it. I finally came up with one to offer as good as I can get it for now, but my mind is frazzled so I will probably play with it some more later. I broke one of Tyler’s commandments; I let my stars get pure white. Actually I may just post 2 of my efforts; one with stars white and one with out. I will come back and visit this later when my head quits buzzing. The names will indicate the basic process I went through. White stars (my bad) http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1135 Still not good enough http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1138 Jim
Thanks for your efforts Jim. It'll be interesting to see what Tyler can make of my data. Of course, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, should anyone trying to use my data first look at Tyler's Horsehead shot, http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=971 , since if they do they wont even bother with mine. :) patrick On 25 Feb 2009, at 09:13, Jim Gibson wrote:

Patrick, I am very impressed with your willingness to put together these kits so that we can hone our skills in processing astrophotography. I for one have been working with your data but have been keeping my failures to myself. Thanks for your work in this regard Rodger Fry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Wiggins" <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 4:04 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Mangling Patrick's HH data Thanks for your efforts Jim. Hi Rodger, I'm glad you like them but, hey, if I can post my "Moon occulting M-42" boo-boo you can post your boo-boos too. :) Another sucker hole tonight so I got a 9 panel and then 2 15 panel mosaics of Comet Lulin. But even keeping the exposures short (10 and 20 seconds) the comet is moving so fast that I imagine the comet will be smeared on the finished product. Just now I'm working on a nice little face on spiral, NGC 2903. 60' of luminance, 10' of red and green and, if the clouds don't mess things up, 15' of blue. Actually if I'd know this sucker hole was going to last this long I would have done some real work (nobody tell my boss...). patrick On 25 Feb 2009, at 16:08, Rodger C. Fry wrote:
