Wow! Thanks, Chuck. These are grand. There's no doubt that we're seeing at the very least river beds and a lake bed or ocean, as well as the higher ground. But I think they are actually rivers and a lake or ocean. Man, this is grand. And I think if several images of the same site can be stacked it could improve the resolution. -- Joe

Jo, this is one of image site Chuck referred to, at the University of Arizona: http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/~kholso/data.htm -- Read the "legal information" then click on "start here." An image I find fascinating, among others, is this. These are in sets of three, and the bottom one certainly shows rivers and a lake or ocean, either active or dry (I think probably actually liquid.) http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/~kholso/images/jpeg2/triplet.412.jpg Thanks, Joe
Jo, I was successful linking to the "conspiracy" photo earlier, but now I can't. Do you know any other way to get back to that link? Would Astromart have pulled it? I'd like to share it with friends. Alternately, did anyone download the image? It was... "cute." Kim, I could not find it at the original URL either but I searched through my cache and found the URL for just the image: http://www.astromart.com/common/image_popup.asp?image=/images/classifieds/32... Patrick
If you take Triplets 448 and 611, crop out everything except the two images that are of the same site, then rotate one so that it lines up well with the other -- you get true 3D. It helps to adjust the contrast so that they're about the same. The round structure apparently is a caldera with a raised rim. Also, the difference in glare on the dark substance makes it almost certain that it's liquid. There may even be some wave action. You can see how the canyon is much deeper than the surrounding outcrops. Anyway, take a look! -- Joe
