The old Hansen Planetarium building is indeed a great building - a rare gem on the architectural fabric of the city. If I told you what we spent per year to keep the roof from leaking, the pipes from exploding, the foundation from eroding, the HVAC system running, etc., you'd faint. O.C. Tanner's interest in the building is the best news I've heard in a long time. O.C. Tanner has the perfect combination of money, Utah roots and good taste to do justice to the building. The city says they expect to get $2M from the sale of the building, but the city's engineers also estimate that for a proper job of asbestos abatement, foundation stabilization, roofing, plumbing, electrical, etc., it'll take another $5M. If someone's got that kind of money available and they're willing to make the effort, they'll get a building that will be the envy of every business in downtown Salt Lake City. I wish them and the building well. Hi all, check out this NASA rendering of humans on Mars. Then remember the views Spirit and Opportunity have been sending back. My question: is this NASA artist stuck in some 1950s fantasy about Mars or are we getting paled-out views from the rovers? Thanks, Joe http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/28mar_firststeps.htm?list173374
