Although it appears that it may be too late to make a suggestion, I will offer my first choice for a science fiction film for Patrick's shindig: "Armageddon" with Bruce Willis. Don't laugh - from beginning to end the "science" is non-existent, so it would make for a good discussion about why the film is so bad. Patrick could even explain "space dementia."

Yeah, Michael, that TZ episode really spooked me as a kid. If Patrick can air TV fare, my pick would be the Star Trek NG episode, "The Inner Light." I found it to be a compelling story of how a civilization deals with its pending destruction and desire to leave some kind of mark on the universe to say, "We were here." I also think it was by far the best episode of any of the Star Trek series. Not to put words in his mouth, but surely Patrick, as a fellow Boomer, would far prefer the least perfect (I can't bring myself to say worst) episode of the original Star Trek to the best of NG!!! -- Joe
