Sitting here having lunch in Beaver. Beautiful blue skies, no wind and just all round great conditions. Funny but a guy saw my eclipse shirt and asked if I had any glasses. So I gave him a pair. Siegfried reports not many people at the main site in Kanarraville yet. I'm guessing that will change as we approach the 6:22 eclipse start time. Rodger says a number of folks at Parawon Gap. He's currently headed to Kanarraville. Joe and his group just joined me for lunch. He's headed for a place yet to be determined. And I hear the folks at Bryce are trying really hard to get folks with scopes to stick around for the eclipse rather than head for the centerline. And now it's time for the final push to "Eclipse Central". Good luck to all. patrick P.S. Is it too soon to start planning for 2017? :) Sent from my iPad
Great update Patrick! I'm finishing prepping for my view of the eclipse from SLC. I think it's probably perfect to start planning for 2017, I'm definitely going to make it to the centerline for that one! So the earlier we plan the better chance I have of actually making it. Good luck to everyone! And keep praying/dancing/wishing/hoping etc.. for clear skies. Howard --- On Sun, 5/20/12, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

Hi, Mike Anderson and I, we are heading over to Dimple Dell Rec Center, in Sandy Utah. We are joining Clark Planetarium for the eclipse. We are setting up about 5:30 and expecting lots of lookers. Mike has a (new to him) used 10" LX200. He got a killer deal on it. He will be trying it out with solar for the first time. I am taking my 10" LX200 and ETX 105 and Hards Solat scope. Clark planetarium is coming with 3 or 4 more solar scopes. I think it will be a grand time. Total travel time 12 minutes to observing place. LOL Hope all of you down south are going to have a wonderful time and not have so many people trying to look.............. that it is no fun. We got our view from Cove Fort. Good views to the west and no clouds in the sky. Lots of folks (estimated at 80) at the park just to the east of the historic fort. Choose this spot because of easy access to I-15 and was only a 3 hour drive . Was back home by 10:30 p.m. ________________________________ From: Howard Jackman <sumoetx@yahoo.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2012 2:07 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Update from down south Great update Patrick! We're back from Beryl Junction. Ahhhh - my own bed tonight! The flight down was a bit bumpy with continuous light turbulence, but coming back you hardly tell we were doing 160 mph. We had perfect skies. It was really fun watching the changing characteristics of the shadows. Hardly anyone along the road. Maybe one car every half mile or mile. We had some really fun experiences. I'll post more details tomorrow along with some photos. There was one fellow from Alberta, Canada there and a couple of cars from California. Other than that - only the locals.
