I have a pair of Galileo 15x70, but went to look at the Barskas. I did notice a slight difference, but can't account for it. My Galileos hold the focus very well and focus doesn't change when you push in on the eyepiece assembly. The Barskas allowed the focus to shift about every time I brought my eyes to them or pointed them vertically, and the eyepiece assembly would move when subject to a little thumb pressure. Perhaps there is an adjustment that can correct this. When I encountered this problem on my 10x60s, I fashioned a tap from sheet metal to act as a friction brake on the focus wheel. Bob, this reflects inconsistency in manufacturing that goes beyond "brand" differences. I've now had the chance to examine about a dozen examples of this bino in all of it's incarnations, and found machining slop in almost all of them. Interestingly, the worst offender was the Oberwerk 15x70mm, the priciest of the bunch at nearly $150. Caveat emptor, but any decent seller will let you return a unit not up to par. I just picked up a pair of Barskas from Heartland America, invoking some membership discounts, they only cost me $44.95 + shipping. Nice, tight pair.
