I just got this in my twitter feed: --------- @ATK Preparing for a big announcement with NASA tomorrow at our facility in Promontory, Utah - stay tuned for more info! 10/1/12 12:27 PM --------- Anyone know anything? Dan -- Daniel Holmes, danielh@holmesonics.com "Laugh while you can, monkey boy!" -- Lord John Whorfin
I doubt they'd announce that on Twitter as a way of building anticipation...or partner with NASA to announce it. Maybe they got the contract to build the espresso machines for the new crew capsules? Dan On Oct 1, 2012, at 2:40 PM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
I'm guessing more layoffs.

Fair enough; I have no idea what twtter is. I just read about another NASA contractor laying off, so I extrapolated. On Oct 1, 2012 2:46 PM, "Daniel Holmes" <danielh@holmesonics.com> wrote:

NASA news updates reports on booster projects at promontory. Mostly boilerplate as is a drop in the bucket compared to the monies given to the other companies. 73, lh On 10/1/2012 1:35 PM, Daniel Holmes wrote:

It has to do with this: http://www.nasa.gov/exploration/systems/sls/sls_qualification.html What's newsworthy is that ATK has been selected to demonstrate new low-cost methods of building boosters. Keeping the accountants happy may not seem especially sexy, but for a system that anticipates _lots_ of launches, a faster and less expensive way to make the boosters has a sex appeal all its own. I'm not sure it's total puffery -- John Hollenhorst, one of the few really good reporters in Utah, tweeted this: NASA gives Utah's ATK a big pat on the back and a very nice chunk of money. Are we going to the back side of the moon? Story at 6 tonite. ________________________________ From: Larry Holmes <larry@kijoda.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 2, 2012 3:17 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] ATK?
