Now that I have a telescope and am in the southern hemisphere, I am starting a "bucket list" of objects to observe here. So far, here is my list:NGC253NGC216947 TucanaeLMCSMCTarantula NebulaCoal SackAlpha CentauriOmega CentauriCentaurus AEta Carina I am soliciting additions to this list. Please think of the objects that sound interesting to you but you can't see from North America. Add to this list so that I can observe them for you. I am also interested in objects some of you may have seen while you were in the more southerly climes. Wayne Sumner, this means you - among others. BTW, my scope is a 10 inch f4.7 Sky Watcher collapsible dob. I'll cross post this to Facebook also, so don't get too upset if you see it twice. Thanks,Brent
Brent Go to the AstroLeague site and look at the observing programs. There are 2 programs for southern objects, one for telescopes, one for binoculars and an additional from John Bambury in Australia that list 600 southern sky objects. I’ve observed 564 on John’s list so far, I’ve been south twice and I’m planning another for next year, great sky down under!! Have Fun, Aloha Rob

Aloha Joe After 6mo working on the new property I am finally getting to use it for astronomy. This summer was wet, overcast, humid and I was doubting that we had moved to a better country location. We lived in Pukalani (1550' el) for 30 years and for being in a small town, nice sky but that changed over time. We had talked about moving up to Kula and this house was available (80 years old,8ac) so I went for it. It needed lots of work and yard care and now it is a country home complete w/ cats and a dog and an observing site at 3700'. It's cooler here, down to 46* already (coldest ever in Pukalani was 55*) so I have a good wood supply and tanks of propane to keep the chill off. My 1st test of the sky was w/C.Catalina, moon and Venus, a decent photo and this next weekend will be testing the site w/ the refractor and some wide shots w/ the Nikons. Yes, life is good and the grand daughters love coming to the farm. Gee Brent, thanks! Offering to observe southern hemisphere objects for us is kind of like offering to eat our ice cream for us. ;) On Dec 11, 2015 6:56 PM, "Brent Watson via Utah-Astronomy" < utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:
