I love the names and acronyms of the experiments: Alice LORRI RALPH PEPSSI SWAP REX Sounds like the cast of a Disney cartoon. And my favorite, the "Student Dust Counter", knowing how dusty students can be... ;) I was surprised that closest approach will be whopping 6,000 miles. So much for fine surface details. I wonder if this reflects navigational concerns, allowances for better non-image-related experiments, or an attempt at getting better images of Charon? Thanks for that link, Patrick.

And then there is the Tether Physics and Survivability (TiPS) satellite launched by the National Reconnaissance Office a few years back. The satellite consists of two end masses connected by a 4 km long tether. The end masses are named Ralph and Norton (as in Ralph Kramden & Ed Norton). Patrick
