I'm wondering if any other list members who use gmail have this problem. Any list messages originating with a person with a yahoo address are getting sent immediately to my spam folder. Since I don't check the spam folder often, and sometimes just delete the entire contents sight-unseen, I've missed many recent list postings. This just started a few weeks ago, judging by the dates on messages I've seen in the spam folder. If you have list messages sent to a gmail account, please check your spam folder and see if you are having the same problem with utah-astro list messages originating at a yahoo address. Thanks! C.
It's yahoo. They changed their DMARC setting back in April to say that anyone not using Yahoo servers is sending spam. It's playing havoc with mailing lists. I run a few, and lost a few nights trying to figure out what happened. http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/ietf/current/msg87153.html Dan -- Sent from an iPad. Thanks Dan, what a pain in the butt. Any fixes possible on my end? Will checking all the messages sent to the spam folder as "not spam" solve it? At least until a new subscriber posts, so I guess I have to keep checking the spam folder. Grumble. C. On Fri, May 16, 2014 at 6:28 AM, Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com>wrote:

Chuck, the obvious lesson here is don't delete your "spam" emails sight unseen. I go through mine because, for some unfathomable reason, a lot of good email ends up there. Chuck, I made a Gmail filter for "Utah Astronomy", directing it to the inbox. Joe's email was just delivered to my inbox instead of the spam folder for the first time in a while. It's only one data point, but.... give it a try. Jo On May 17, 2014, at 6:30 PM, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

A few days ago, I went into my spam folder and checked all the yahoo addresses from list members "not spam", which moved the messages back to the IN box. But today, new messages from those same list members are again being delivered to the spam folder. What a pain.
Chuck, and others with gmail accounts. Creating a filter for <list:"utah-astronomy.mailman.xmission.com"> has kept everything out of the spam or junk folder. The following instructions are more detailed, for those of you that have not created filters before. Log into your gmail account online. Look for the little round grey gear on the upper right hand area next to the < and > buttons. Click on the gear. A menu will drop down. Go down that menu to "settings" and click on it. On the page that opens, you will have a bunch of tab options. It opens to "General". You want to look to the fifth tab from the left, called "Filters". Click on that tab. A list of existing filters will appear. There may be none or a lot. Scroll to the bottom o any existing filters to the small, highlighted words "Create a New Filter". A new box will appear with lots of option boxes that can be filled out. You only have to fill out one of the boxes. Look for the box labeled "Has the words". In that box type exactly what is on the following line. list:"utah-astronomy.mailman.xmission.com" Then go down to the bottom of the box and click on "Create filter with this search". A new box appears with a list of options. Click on "Never send it to spam". At the lower left is a blue box that says "Create Filter" Click on this box. Your filter has been created. Go to the column on the left, click on "Inbox", and you are back to your normal screen. Your Utah Astronomy emails will not end up in spam anymore. Thanks Jo! I created this account specifically for list traffic; in effect, only list messages would come here so the account as a whole was a specific folder. Looks like gmail found a way around my "cleverness". On Thu, May 22, 2014 at 8:40 AM, Josephine Grahn <jograhn@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for the explanation. I too had UA messages going to the spam folder. Now I know why. patrick On 16 May 2014, at 06:28, Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com> wrote:
