RE: [Utah-astronomy] Utah amateur radio astronomy mentor sought
Thanks to all for the referrals, I think I'm set with the Henchy contact info. Slumming around on the net, it also turns out that there is a Utah amateur radio society that next meets on Mar. 6 in the Warnock Engineering Bldg. at the U of U. I may show up at the next meeting and try to get some advice. http://www.xmission.com/~uarc/ Yolo is a kind of telescope design; Yagi's the antenna; Yoko broke up the Beatles; Yin and Yang are another topic altogether. http://bhs.broo.k12.wv.us/homepage/alumni/dstevick/yolo.htm - Kurt ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? I've been rather slow getting to my UA email lately. I'm also an amateur radio astronomer. Everything I've done has been in the 1.4 GHZ (i.e. hydrogen line / water hole) range. I'm currently using a converted 10 ft dish with a receiver from Radio Astronomy Supplies. I had been using an Icom R7000 receiver prior to getting the one from RAS. I haven't had a chance to look at all the emails about amateur radio astronomy in this thread to see specifically what you are interested in. But something that can certainly help you out is the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers (SARA). I've been a SARA member for a number of years. They have a bi-monthly newsletter, website and yahoogroup. Here is their web site URL: www.radio-astronomy.org I can get the yahoogroup info for you if you are interested. Clear skies, Dale.
