As for accuracy, I think it would be pretty close. Smallish meteors loose all their cosmic velocity while passing though the atmosphere so their velocity on impact would be the same as a terrestrial object dropped from a sufficient height. To date no two people that have made the terminal velocity calculations here seem to be able to agree. Skydivers do have computerized altimeters that record vertical speeds and times so it would be an easy thing to tape one to a bowling ball (or other object), drop it and then get a read out from the computer after the fact. But that costs money and there's no guarantee the computer would survive unless an automatic parachute were attached but that would probably mess with the fall rate (and would cost more money).
