Re: [Utah-astronomy] Draconids outburst Sat 10-8 4pm MST
Did you monitor it yourself with a radio, Kurt?
Thanks for asking. Regrettably, my meteor radio station is permanently down. The VHF TV station I was using as a source signal went digital, and since then I haven't been able to find a useable replacement signal. I bought a 206mhz Yagi antenna, and I tried to and use the US Space Command signal in Arizona as a source signal, but I could not capture any reflections. The best Western U.S. signal to use is the NOAA SNOTEL master transmitter. Unfortunately, the SNOTEL master transmitter is in Ogden and is to close to use locally. You have to be 400-500 miles from the transmitter to use it as a reflection signal. I'll have to wait until I move to Canada or northern California, before I can restart the station. I checked out the Draconid outburst out on the RMOBS real time amateur network. http://217.169.242.217/rmob/pages/liveradiometeorpage.php Kurt
