Jim, We must be on the same wavelength. Last night, I was checking out Omega Centauri on the Sky and Telescope interactive chart. I was trying to figure out when it would be highest in the sky. I saw it last year down here just over the Arizona border. My scope was in a complete horizontal position but it was in the eyepiece (22 Panoptic). I guess I got lucky because I didn't know when the cluster was at its highest point in the sky. I just love this cluster. It is about the size of the full moon. M13 is about half of it's size. Keep in mind this NGC 5139 is at its highest when Spica is at its highest. If you haven't seen this cluster, I'd suggest coming down to St. George this spring. Also check out the Centaurus A galaxy. It is higher up in the sky than the Omega Centauri cluster. Debbie
Jim, Debbie, et al, FYI you can see Omega Centauri from up north here. I've seen it as far
Can you see NGC5139 in Centarus from where you are or is it too far down in the mud? I am thinking that one may have to go to Arizona to see it.

(Sorry, I hit 'send' too soon!) Jim, Debbie, et al, FYI you can see Omega Centauri from up north here. I've seen it as far north as the Rush Valley site which is about 40.25 degrees North. It 'rolls' nicely down a hill almost due south of the site. dlbennett

Dave, How does one get to rush valley? You got a map online someplace? Rich --- David L Bennett <dlbennett@mac.com> wrote:

Rich, Funny you should ask...I was about to make an updated Rush Valley map similar to the map I made for Wolf Creek. I'd like to update all of the maps eventually. Maybe if I can't be President of SLAS right now I could be the official SLAS Cartographer? :-) I'll let everyone know when it's up on my site and I will also talk to Kathleen about posting it on the SLAS site. The Rush Valley Site is about 35 miles SW of Sandy near Cedar Fort, Fairfield, Camp Floyd and Fivemile Pass. For now, goto: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=40.26620579344688&lon=- 112.12467936840308&symshow=n ...and click on the arrow in the SW corner. The next topo shows a well about a third in from the left: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=40.21032733965835&lon=- 112.21926351601947&symshow=n Finally goto for a close up on the Well/Drill Hole. The Rush Valley Site is at the Drill Hole: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=40.213311517795574&lon=- 112.26110357707768&s=25&symshow=n dlbennett http://homepage.mac.com/dlbennett/ On Friday, March 28, 2003, at 01:39 PM, Richard Tenney wrote:

Yo Debbie. Did you write something about our visit with Omega Centuri last Friday in St. George? Please share it with me. Barney B.
