Re: [Utah-astronomy] No sunspots (Gallery being spammed)
Did this just start last night / this morning? I made a few other access changes then that might have messed things up... :( Let me know and if that's the case I'll go back and reset those options. patrick
I tried to add an image for the first time in about two or three weeks last night around 10pm. That is when I first noticed it. But it may just be me. I would have someone else try to add a photo and see if they have the same problem.
Second spam attack in two months? There was another one? I don't remember that one.
Wasn't there one one or two months ago - the first time you said that you were turning the gallery comments off. Fraking spammer-cracker scum. Bring back an exception for the death penalty for em. Adopt Shia law and cut-off their fingers. That way they'll have to peck the keyboard with their noses. -:)
someone has come up with a spambot that can do that.
500 plus messages has got to be a spambot. Thanks for doing the sysop stuff. - Kurt

Ok. At least that tells me the problem isn't something I did last night.

I tried, both as an individual and as an administrator. No luck in either case. I've spent much of the evening going over the various (and VERY numerous) administrator options to no avail. Cynthia has not been answering emails so I left a voice mail for her at home. Hopefully she'll get back to me so I can find out who to contact when problems like this arise.

Oh, ok, I remember. That's where a number of folks, mostly with made up names, registered for the list in the middle of the night. Back then one could register and be given full access to the list immediately. Fortunately I was on line and saw what was happening and immediately went in an manually put them all on moderation. I emailed them to that effect and (surprise, surprise) none of them ever replied or posted to the list. That, BTW, was when I changed the list to "automatically moderated" for newbies (I didn't change the Comments option at the time as I didn't think it would be a problem <wrong!>).
