Kurt, Someone posted some awful ads for porn-type stuff on your aurora pic -- I just viewed the impressive h-alpha pic, and the tumbnail for your aurora photo was there, and I clicked on it -- bad stuff. Take care, Joe --- On Sun, 8/24/08, Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] No sunspots To: "Utah Astronomy List Serv" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Sunday, August 24, 2008, 9:03 PM 20080824 19:30UT - Sol PST Ha test - dark filament http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14961 - Kurt _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://gallery.utahastronomy.com Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com

Hi Joe, Thanks for noticing the problem. Everyone, As it turns out almost every picture in every album on the gallery had the same stupid stuff. I could not find a global command to turn off the ability to post new comments so I proceeded to delete each offending comment individually. After a couple of hours I was only about half way through and noticed new messages appearing. Augh! So I called X-Mission. Very nice person answered but it turned out the gallery is not on their servers. So I left a voice mail for Cynthia at work hoping she could fix it when she got in in the morning. But the new messages continued to arrive and I was afraid the gallery would be swamped with smut. Fortunately about then I figured out how to turn off the comments option and dump the existing comments. So right now every album is set so that no one can post a new comment either to any album or picture. It's been about half an hour and I have not seen any new comments appear so I guess (hope) it's working. Any album owner who wishes to turn comments back on is welcome to do so. To do that you'll need to log on and then select "Edit Permissions". The window that appears next can then be used to allow comments again. Or if that doesn't work just let me know and I'll change it for you. Cheers, patrick
Thanks, Patrick. I should have waited for you to spring into action before I wasted all that time deleting crap from my album! I'm glad you turned off the comments -- the albums are really a showcase, and if someone wants to give compliments or criticisms he can always find our email addresses. This is why you're a leader. -- jb --- On Mon, 8/25/08, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote: From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] No sunspots (Gallery being spammed) To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Monday, August 25, 2008, 3:05 AM On 24 Aug 2008, at 21:08, Joe Bauman wrote:
