Although it appears that it may be too late to make a suggestion, I will offer my first choice for a science fiction film for Patrick's shindig: "Armageddon" with Bruce Willis. Don't laugh - from beginning to end the "science" is non-existent, so it would make for a good discussion about why the film is so bad. Patrick could even explain "space dementia." Kim
