I resolve in 2007 (2007, can you believe it???) to: 1. Get my 17.5" scope operational as an alt-az at least (equatorial mode can wait if necessary). 2. Finish all the binocular parallelograms on my plate. 3. Attend several star-parties and club meetings. Anybody else have resolutions they care to share? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! No resolutions for me, but I look forward to seeing Chuck at star parties and club meetings. Additionally, I think that Chuck would be a wonderful human-interest story writer for our NOVA. What do you say, Chuck?? An occasional story that you write when you are bored at work or waiting in the car while your family shops... -A
Agreed!!! What's say ye Chuck? Care to pen a few lines? Perhaps some of your thoughts on the early days of SLAS? SPOC's history? Or Little Stonehenge? And lets not forget your being the only board member to survive the Coup of 79 (or, brain cramp here, was that Dave Chambelin)? pw On 30 Dec 2006, at 19:04, Ann House wrote:

That was Dave. I was the junior board member in the old days (teenager back then- I think the position was created just for me, IIRC) and wasn't an officer of any kind when the actual coup happened. Even though the "old guard" had been in office too long and had stagnated, they were always very kind to me and were good friends- as were the coup plotters! I felt stuck in the middle, and didn't want to associate astronomy with ill feelings towards anyone. It was about 1979 that I stopped attending meetings and was away for the next 16 or 17 years. I stuck my nose back in the door periodically at about the time Hale-Bopp appeared, though I had been somewhat active with a small group of non-club observers all the while. I managed to attend several of the last club meetings at the old Hansen planetarium. --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

Nice resolutions Chuck, I resolve to figure out how to post some pics on the utah astronomy website, I just can't get it to accept my password (Help!)I'd love to share my transit pics with all of you and get your feedback on some of my first digital astropics. I also resolve to observe more often, it's been pretty pathetic the last 3 years, and to go along with that I'd like to attend a star party or two again this year it's been too long. Chuck if you get that 17.5" beast done it would help get me out there to look through it. Can't get to meetings due to work schedule but I appreciate the meeting minutes! Happy New Year everyone!! 27 years ago my first wife tried to change me, 26 and 7/8 years ago my 2nd wife tried to change me, and now I'm just too old to change, so this year I am going to try to stay alive, and pretty much do the same things I've been doing. This is all part of my "motor memory" skills training plan. I firmly believe that through countless repetition of doing the same thing over and over and over again, that down the road when my mind starts to fail, I will still be able to get around while looking like I know what I am doing, instead of tripping around the woods like those fine folks in "Night of the living dead". Hopefully this motor skills training will include a few more star parties with my friends. Happy New Year! Sorry if I offended any Zombies...
Aloha from Maui It's 6AM here , last day of the year and my last view of the Crux and tail of Scorpius. The Crux sits vertical and above the neighborhood tree line just to the left of a street light, Spring is coming and more adventures are about to unfold. Best wishes to you all ................. Howard, Cynthia has always helped me when I was in a similar situation, but last I heard, she abdicated the administrator's post- and I'll be darned if I know who the current administrator is! Do we in fact have new list/gallery administrator? Would love to see your transit fotos when you can get them posted! --- Howard Jackman <sumoetx@yahoo.com> wrote:

I sent Howard an email but haven't heard back from him. I still have admin rights on the list, as as for the photo album, I believe I'm the only admin there. :) I should get someone signed up for that as well. Cynthia On 12/31/06, Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote:

Cyn, You have done a fantastic job and I really hope you will continue years into the future with both the list and the photos. If it's a problem with our getting too hot under the collar, just send a note off-list and I am sure we'll all simmer down. You are invaluable. Best wishes, Joe
