Re: [Utah-astronomy] Seeking suggestions for repairing RH dome
I was going suggest fiberglassing the ENTIRE dome, so that delamination wouldn't be an issue. Similar to your suggestion, Rob. Messy, though. On Tue, Mar 6, 2012 at 12:55 PM, Rob Ratkowski Photography < ratkwski@hawaii.rr.com> wrote:

How about a paint on white roof sealant?? Or apply a bonding sheet and paint over with a waterproof sealant, this would form a solid dome cover, this was dome to Mees Observatory and should last 50 years.

I think you all have to decide how much $$ to be spent and how much of a PITA factor it is. Not knowing how big and how accessible the dome is, factors on the sealing need to be considered. I like the idea of a flexible seal that easily applied with additional sealing to those leaking panels. We have a wall in our site that was an add on, it leaks into our main room and there is no easy way to do the repairs as it's attached to the roll off. Just a poor design for what was to be a temporary building that's been there for 50+ years. Aloha Rob PS Kona winds, 41% humidity, 76ยบ, partially cloudy
