It appears that *SLAS*, the *Planetarium*, and the *Natural History Museum*didn't bother to check the volunteer schedule at *No More Homeless Pets in Utah *before planning the *Transit of Venus*. Seems that on Tuesday afternoons I'm tied up cat-sitting so I may not be able to take part in the festivities next Tuesday; this after I've reserved *Baader* film sufficient to cover the mouth of my small scope and both my regular and long-focus camera lenses. Is there any chance you can reschedule the event? If not, I guess I'll just have to wait for the next one in 2117. Or maybe I can do the ayem shift instead and still come to the museum for the Transit. I guess we'll just have to see. I still don't understand why the Transit was scheduled for a Tuesday afternoon, when most people are working, instead of a weekend. I'll never understand why people always go around scheduling major events without asking if everyone in the group can make it. It also would have been helpful if the Transit had been scheduled for a couple of weeks later so that maybe we could discuss the event at the next monthly meeting. In the same vein, has anyone bothered to check and see if the end of the world has been scheduled to take place before or after the December meeting. It would sure be nice if we could plan the star party at that meeting rather than having it take place before the meeting. Also, has anyone bothered to check on when the stars will all go out? I'd sure hate to drag all my equipment down to the site for our very last star party, only to find that all the stars had gone out before we've even begun to set up. I'm warning you all right now, if that happens I'm going to move to impeach the SLAS president. This is far too important an event to leave seemingly small elements of it to chance. *Thanx,* *Ray*

It goes deeper than that, Ray. The government is in cahoots with the aliens who run the celestial machinery. The aliens are huge dog-like creatures, which explains why they screwed over the cat fanciers.
