Hello Everyone: I don't post information here very often, yet I noticed the entries about viewing Omega Centauri. Are you all aware of the star party at Natural Bridges National Monument the Weekend of April 24th and 25th? It was announced at the March SLAS meeting. One of the main reasons for going to this site is to view Omega Centauri. National Geographic magazine's article on light pollution a few months ago noted that Natural Bridges is one of the three darkest sites in the lower 48 states. I last saw Omega Centauri well at Panorama Point inside of Arches National Park many years ago. It cleared some buttes to the south and was easily visible for about 45 minutes to an hour. I remember it literally filling my eyepiece field of view. The light pollution from Moab has rendered this site no good any more for extreme southern viewing, so some of us are heading down to Natural Bridges to have a try. Any of you that are interested, the InterMountain Astronomy Group is expanding its email list to inform amateurs about dark sky private star parties. In the next few months, the website and bulletin board will be on line for people to post when and where they are going out for private viewing. If you are interested in being added to the email list for now, please contact me. Thank you. Lowell Lyon
