I've seen conflicting reports this year as to when the perseids will peak. Some say the evening of August 11th into the morning of August 12th. Others say the evening of August 12th into the morning of August 13th. Anyone know what the "official" estimate is?
Hi, The official peak is late Monday evening. Unfortunately, we'll be on the wrong side of the planet at that time and it wont be very dark. So I'm guessing the predawn hours of Monday could be the best time to look. But just to cover my bet, I'll be looking Tuesday morning too. See Joe Bauman's article on the subject at http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,405023302,00.html?textfield=Perseid. Patrick Paul Witte wrote:
