A couple of semi-random thoughts this morning: I saw Robert Heinlein mentioned in a thread posted earlier and it reminded me of a couple of things he wrote. Heinlein was one of my favorite sci-fi authors. About the earliest novel I remember reading was "Rocket Ship Galileo", which sparked my interest in space travel and seeing the US go to the Moon. Heinlein also introduced me to the initialism, "TANSTAAFL", from "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". ("There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch") Words to live by. Congress should take some kind of lesson there. Kim
I grok you. My two favorite books are 'Dune' and 'Stranger in a Strange Land'. 'Time Enough for Love' is right up there though. I tried to get Jess to read 'Have Spacesuit, Will Travel', but she couldn't fathom the idea of saving box-tops to trade in on a used spacesuit. I've gotta keep working on her. I'm going to see if I can slip 'Podkayne of Mars' into her bookbag. She started reading some Ray Bradbury, so all is not lost. Dan On Jan 30, 2013, at 8:35 AM, Kim <kimharch@cut.net> wrote:

Lol. About the time Heinlein came to SLC for a sci-fi convention, I remember as a student at the U, there was a green VW Beetle tooling around with the vanity plate "GROK". Was in the area for a number of years. On Wed, Jan 30, 2013 at 10:24 AM, Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com>wrote:

Was that the VW that Ted Bundy used to drive around SLC - and to other unknown parts in Utah? Of course, I think he totally missed the point of to grok, at least with some of his passengers. Wasn't Bundy's VW yellow? I grew up about a five minute walk from the UofU law school where he hung-out. Still gives me the creeps. On Thu, Jan 31, 2013 at 11:21 PM, Kim Hyatt <kimharch@cut.net> wrote:
