Re: [Utah-astronomy] Spring 2008 Rainbow Hunting Calendar - SaltLake City
diveboss - Just trying to make things entertaining for any kids who stumble to across the page. To paraphrase a bigger kid, club member Dave Bernson, "I prefer to star hop because I like the hunt." To quote an even bigger kid, me, "Amateur astronomy is like deer hunting - a bunch of old farts standing around in the cold - but we aren't armed and liquored up." Not sure if rainbows taste like venison, ostrich or beefalo, but they sure feel good going down, leaving a desire for seconds. - Kurt ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing. I don't know who you hunt deer with, but you should really leave the guns at home if you've been drinking. Rainbows and liquor... yeah, I can see that. Guns and liquor, uh uh, that's a big No No! Quoting Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com>:

Sounds like you support gun control Guy. Right to bear arms unless you've been drinking.

I favor gun control the way Guy does: Using both hands to steady your aim! That's an amazing story, though I don't completely understand it. I do not understand if they created a black hole or, more likely, an analog of one. Anyone else read it and like to comment? Thanks, Joe PS: I'm retiring as of April 11 from the Deseret News, but of course I will remain a member of both SLAS and this discussion list. The way I read it, they made light behave the same way it would in and around the event horizon. Joe Bauman wrote:

Good for you Joe, but a dark day indeed for the Utah astronomical community. My work with NASA has me monitoring many of Utah's newspapers and you, by far, get more astronomy news in print than any other print reporter in the state. patrick
Thanks, Patrick, You're much too kind. It's just that I love astronomy and I truly like and admire the Utah amateurs, so I've been able to get paid for working on topics that mean a lot to me. Best wishes, Joe On Mar 8, 2008, at 5:39 PM, Patrick Wiggins wrote:

If they keep looking hard enough they will probably find beer tabs. After all, what's a beach without beer? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,335955,00.html
