Here is an interesting article that I found on naming stars. It has some interesting links at the bottom. http://www.space.com/spacewatch/mystery_monday_030915.html <http://www.space.com/spacewatch/mystery_monday_030915.html>
Hummmm --- might be a good subject in a few weeks, when I've cleared away other projects. Thanks, Joe
Hey, check out the latest Spirit pancam photos: http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit.html -- click on Panoramic Camera, Sol 39. Then look at the last two photos (of the six posted). Is that ICE that the rocks are sticking out of? Carbon monoxide snow or ice? A field of odd-looking dust? What on Mars is it? -- Best, Joe
Oops, I meant to say carbon dioxide -- not carbon monoxide. But that icy-looking spot, whatever it is, still looks like my driveway! -- Joe

The question of ice in the images was brought up in one of last week's MER news briefings. The reply was the conditions are not right for ice. The white stuff is light colored rock or dirt. Patrick :-)
