Star Party in A.F. Canyon tomorrow (Friday)
The new Utah Valley Astronomy Club (UVAC) is helping the rangers at Timp Cave National Monument and the U.S. Forest Service to host a star party in American Fork Canyon Friday (5th) evening. Attendees coming up just for the event are not required to pay entrance fees (unless you plan to camp). We'll be setting up (staring around 19:30) in the Pine Hollow Trail Head parking lot, located 2 hairpin turns past Mutual Dell in A. F. Canyon. If any list members want to participate, you are more than welcome! Forecast is partly cloudy, but we'll be there regardless. Hope to see some of you there! /Rich
Still on for tonight? It's very cloudy in A Valley; hoping AF canyon is in better shape. I'd really like to meet some UVAC members. After a few years of listening to podcasts and reading cloudynights I'm still the most experienced astronomer I know! And I'm not experienced at all. Amazingly, it cleared up and we had about 80% of the sky (in the canyon) cloud-free. A miracle! A decent turn out, the rangers were grateful and gracious hosts, and the visitors seemed very appreciative. Thanks for all who came. /R From: Joel Stucki <joel.stucki@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com>; Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com> Sent: Friday, August 5, 2016 5:56 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Star Party in A.F. Canyon tomorrow (Friday) Well I was looking forward to at least some cloudy socializing but it's raining now pretty good and I live just 5 min from the canyon. Too bad this didn't work out. Still on for tonight? It's very cloudy in A Valley; hoping AF canyon is in better shape. I'd really like to meet some UVAC members. After a few years of listening to podcasts and reading cloudynights I'm still the most experienced astronomer I know! And I'm not experienced at all.

/Rich _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy
