Meteor last night?
A reporter from the Daily Herald says he's had reports of a huge meteor or fireball last night about 10:30 p.m. That's the first I've heard of it. Anyone here happen to see it? patrick Sent from my iPad
Hi Patrick (and all - this is my first post to the listserv!) Was this low in the north-western horizon? I was camped at a remote overlook north of Moab last night and glimpsed a fireball in progress as it moved towards the horizon and in between clouds. This might have been as late as 10:30, but I would have guessed a little earlier. ~Kate On Tue, Jul 9, 2013 at 5:13 PM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

I was out with my telescope in my driveway between 10-11 pm in Sandy. I did see a quick bright flash at the zenith probably around 10:30, but it looked to me like the last second of an iridium flare or similar. I had my eye at the eyepiece looking at M13, and as I pulled my head away from the scope I noticed the flash. I was bummed that I didn't see it in full, but again I was thinking it was an iridium flare. I didn't see anything like a meteor last night, but my focus was on Saturn, then the Ring nebula, then M13. I did have a private plane fly through my field of view while looking at M13. It scared me and definitely screwed up my eyes for a second, as one of the lights on the plane flashed into my eyepiece. (Not the same flash as described above.) I'll be interested to hear if I missed something amazing. Hi, Since a couple of y'all replied saying you'd seen something I've emailed the guy back asking for more details. Thanks for the input, patrick On 09 Jul 2013, at 17:13, Patrick Wiggins wrote:
