I got an off-list message from another L&O fan, who will be unable to meet us next Saturday. I'm good every weekend in June except for the 19th-20th, when I'll be in Las Vegas at an RX-8 car meet. I'm also available on Fridays, if that helps. I'm thinking that we could probably do this monthly, if you folks are up for it. Since last August, I've lost nearly 60 lbs., and am in fighting trim. 40 minute workouts, 6 days a week, and sensible eating habits, not even "dieting", really, just watching what I eat. Not bad for a guy on the wrong side of 50. On 5/27/10, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

I think I remember this place from about 30 years ago when it was first built, and called Car 39 or something like that.
So how many confirmed as of now, Rodger?

Well, not quite a religion, Dan, but at least a minor obsession. I admit that it can be an acquired taste. Like Irish Whiskey! ;o) (OMG I've discovered "Redbreast". If God drinks Irish whiskey, He would drink Redbreast. In fact I will say that Redbreast is proof of the existence of God. Q.E.D.) A reminder that the L&O is mostly an excuse for the conversation which centers on astronomy and science in general, as well as people, places, and associated local goings-on. Show-and-tell items are encouraged. I may bring my new (gently used) C-5 (thanks again, Steve!) and perhaps another trinket or two. On 6/2/10, Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com> wrote:

Not that I'm not interested in joining y'all, but I'll be at my nephew's funeral (speaking no less) that day instead. Hope you enjoy the get-together. Life is WAY too short to not celebrate each moment that we can with friends... /R --- On Wed, 6/2/10, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Richard, So sorry to hear about your nephew. I have a six year old niece with a mass in her left jaw that could be cancerous. We'll find out later today. I agree, life is way to short not to be with friends and loved ones and to enjoy and treasure their company. I hope we all give that friend or loved one a tease, a hug or however we show our affection. On Thu, Jun 3, 2010 at 3:25 PM, Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com> wrote:

I just posted a view I took of M3 on my latest astronomy foray, May 16-17, in Emery County. Once I work out a few problems like collimation, I might give Patrick, Tyler, Don and others a run for their money. Meanwhile, my laptop is broken, so I won't be doing astrophotography until I can fix it. Best wishes, Joe http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=3434
Hi all, by coincidence, another great Utah photographer has the EPOD today -- my friend Ray Boren, who also retired from the Deseret News. Best wishes, Joe http://epod.usra.edu/
Hi UAers, Here's my blog about our friend Jay Eads and his cool astronomical sketches: http://www.deseretnews.com/blog/47/10009194/Nightly-News-Astronomy-blog-Gali... Please leave a comment on the paper's web site if you wish! Thanks, Joe
Hi again, I accidentally put the wrong sketch in at one spot on the blog. It's been corrected. So here's the last (I hope) version of my blog about Jay's fascinating astrosketches: http://www.deseretnews.com/blog/47/10009194/Nightly-News-Astronomy-blog-Gali... -- Thanks, Joe
