I hear the upcoming Perseid meteor shower is going to be good. I'm going to try to take some piggy-back photos on slide film. I'm thinking about Kodak Ektachrome 200 slide film. Can I get it at Inkleys Photo? Or would Fuji Provia 400 be better? I'm going to use my 50mm and 135mm lenses stopped down 1 f stop. Any tips would be helpful. Clear Skies, Debbie
Hi Deb I would go w/ the Fuji Provia 400, the 50mm lens or somewhat wider (35mm,28mm,24mm) and find a nice DARK location for extended exposures. having your camera piggybacked on a scope is good, only problem I see is that the scope become a dedicated tracking platform. Do you have a spare scope drive that's adapted to a camera?? Stopping down is OK, but meteor trails usually are faint and you need all the capture you can get. I'm taking a manual GEM and 80mm refractor and a Questar 3.5 w/me on my trip into Nicaragua so I can look at Southern Skys and shoot the Perseids while I'm in Central America. I hope to have a few photos when I return and maybe a story or two ............... ;^) Aloha Rob
Hi Deb, the only place I've found Ektachrome 200 is Pictureline in SLC. Best wishes, Joe
