Mars lecture - extensive ice deposits on Mars
WIth respect to last night's lecture on Mars, the following recent article regarding extensive ice deposits on Mars at equatorial latitudes may be of interest. - Clear Skies, Kurt http://www.universetoday.com/2010/03/02/mro-radar-maps-extensive-subsurface-...
What does this say about the possibility of Martian life? And what does it say about the prospects of a colony (assuming we'll have a way to get there)? Fascinating stuff. One drawback to being in the boonies is not having reliable internet. I can't get this to upload to my slas gallery. I finally got it up on my site http://www.rankinstudio.com/dnloads/processed.JPG Image info: Rebel XSi peltier cooled to around 1deg F. 7 Images stacked at 300 second each. ISO 800. 180mm F2.8 Nikkor ED Lens with Nikon-Eos Adapter. I wasn't able to get a lot of time on this, so it's still quite noisy, also didn't get any darks to help reduce that. I can say that its amazing how much the peltier cooler removes noise though. I am also having some reflection issues, not sure why they are so bad. Enjoy! David
