I may head up to Mountain Meadows this weekend if the clouds and some of the moonlight go away. I need to hit some spring doubles. I need higher altitude for better seeing. Mountain Meadows is on highway 18 north of the Pine Mountain turnoff.

Go out to LaVerkin and get on highway 9 to Zion. There is a turnoff about a mile past the LaVerkin Overlook with a stop sign. Go towards the dam and you will see a dirt cul-de-sac there. Perfect for observing. No drunks, no ATV's, just an occasional sheriff there.
Good Luck,
Debbie

Hi, All Weather is beautiful down here in St. George. My wife and I will be here for a week. Spring break for canyons school district. Hope to get some astrophotography started while I am here. Hope all the snow is gone up north.

The moon won't have too much effect on Debbie's double-star observing, at least. I take some of the blame for the recent cloudy nights. I bought an Orion 15x70mm Resolux binocular (couldn't quite afford the Fujinons this year). Haven't had a chance to look at the sky with it yet, but daytime views are fantastic. Don't look now but the skies have cleared off. Observatory open. Looking for targets of opportunity. patrick On 26 Mar 2013, at 20:15, Chuck Hards wrote:
