I'm surprised you got anything with this horrible weather, Patrick. We thought Dilbert was great too. -- Joe ________________________________ From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> To: utah astronomy listserve utah astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, February 22, 2013 10:42 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] ISON tonight / Dilbert today ISON tonight. Patrick, How long is the exposure on these images? Nice, by the way. Dave On Feb 22, 2013, at 10:42 PM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

Thanks. All of my ISON shots that I've posted have been 30 seconds. patrick p.s. Dilbert's still at it today: http://www.dilbert.com/2013-02-23/

30 seconds seems like a common exposure by many imagers. Is this because noise starts to become an issue with most chips when exposing longer than 30 seconds? Or is it in consideration of the seeing conditions? Or simply a software convention? Keep up the good work! On Sat, Feb 23, 2013 at 5:54 AM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

I shot a few test shots the first night I imaged it and found 30 seconds long enough to register enough data but not so log as to make the comet streak. For continuity I plan on sticking with 30 for as log as possible but eventually it'll be moving so fast or getting so bright I'll need to shorten the exposures. patrick
