Most here know I run mostly Macs, so you'll understand if I'm not quite up to snuff with Windows stuff. I do have one Windows machine running something called Home Edition XP (I understand it's old but it works for my purposes) which I have to use to control my mount and camera. I like to use keyboard shortcuts rather than have to grab the mouse whenever possible and have found that most of the Mac shortcuts are duplicated in Windows except Windows uses the Control key vs Macs using the Apple key. But there's one shortcut I use a lot but have not been able to find in Windows. If I want to close a document or window with the Mac I press Apple+W. Is there a similar combination of Windows keys that will do the same? Thanks, patrick
Alt-F4 will close an application. Not sure if that's what you're looking for though. :) Julie On Tue, Nov 16, 2010 at 2:47 AM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

I you ever forget a keystroke you can find it again on windows. The top of each window has a list of menus "file, edit, view, tools" etc and next to many items are the keystroke equivalent. if you place the mouse on the top stripe of a window and press the right mouse button you will see the Alt F4 command for closing. Thanks to all who replied suggesting Alt+F4. Works fine. Carpe Noctem! patrick
ALT + F4 closes most, but not all Windows programs. If you don't have a Windows program running, ALT + F4 on the desktop may prompt you to do a Windows shutdown. If there is a program icon in the upper left corner of the window, right click it to see if there is a shutdown key sequence other than ALT + F4. You might also check the help file for the program to see if there is a custom shutdown shortcut.
