Re: [Utah-astronomy] Two New Images of Tonight's Sun Pillar
It may be worth it to walk outside now (6:05pm) and look to the east for the rising full Moon over the Wasatch. Previously, I have seen one Moon pillar about this time of year under similar conditions. These types of atmospheric pillars are more likely when the air contains ice crystals. The full Moon is rising - while started rising - over the nautical horizon just a few minutes ago at 5:55pm. In Salt Lake it will still by obscured by the Wasatch Mtns and probably will not be visible for another 15 - 25 minutes. I'm indoors and have not looked outside to check the cloud cover to the east. - Kurt ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
