It is a plasma tube, was mentioned in the article (gee, didn't anyone READ the article?). I'm not surprised that it isn't/is barely visible in the photo, a low-resolution "thumbnail" type photo typical of news pages. I'd like to see the original if it was any sharper. They also mentioned that the "meteor" was possibly only the size of a grain of sand, which would definitely make it smaller than one pixel in size on the photo, regardless of how sharp the original is. Aw, heck, it's more fun to just blame a liberal media, isn't it.
I had to go back and have another look, perhaps there was something in the photo I missed seeing. Sure enough. I missed seeing anything resembling a meteor. I agree with you Kim, amazing photo, no.
Have another look. See if you can't see it either... ;)

Chuck, Who said anything about the liberal media? There you go again. ;) As far as the photo goes, I didn't see anything in it, that would have given anyone the idea that it could have been a meteor. That is my opinion based soley on what detail I see on my computers monitor. That is why I said what I said. The original photo may show something. But lacking that, I can only go by what I actually see on my computers monitor, which is still nothing. Try to relax and have a good day. Guy Quoting Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com>:
