ISS to cross the Sun
I just received a message from CalSky indicating ISS will transit the Sun this coming Friday at 16h52m43s MDT as seen from along a line stretching from here at SPOC, across the north end of Salt Lake International and on into the south end of Bountiful. Duration is predicted to be only 2.91s so don't blink. patrick
Is that the center line? Are you setting up for it? On Mon, Oct 14, 2013 at 8:33 PM, Wiggins Patrick <paw@getbeehive.net> wrote:

Hi Brent and Siegfried (and anyone else interested), I'm not sure if I'll be home Friday afternoon but if I am I'll try to image it from my place which is about 1 km off the centerline but CalSky says the path is a bit over 14 km wide so I should be ok there. Of bigger concern for me is that the Sun will only be about 19 degrees above the horizon which could be too low for my observatory. Here's is a map showing the centerline and some other details for the Bountiful area: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/iss2013oct18.jpg Note that the time has changed .73s since Monday's prediction (16h52m43.57s to 16h52m44.30s for my place) so I'm guessing it may change a bit more by Friday. Good luck, patrick On 15 Oct 2013, at 19:44, Brent Watson wrote:

Shooting video is the best way to capture this, I would think. Then grab an individual frame if you want a still. Friday is too far away for me to make plans, but I may shoot video if I can pull it together. On Wed, Oct 16, 2013 at 8:36 AM, Dave Gary <davegary@me.com> wrote:

It appears the track has moved south: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/iss2013oct18.jpg Still visible from SPOC but if coming out this way Erda looks to be more centered. If I get another update tomorrow I'll post it. patrick On 17 Oct 2013, at 19:13, Wiggins Patrick wrote:

Your latest image doesn't jive with the image at Calsky. The one I can find shows it farther south by several miles. Here is a link: https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=http://www.calsky.com/pub/solartran... Zoom in on the map to see the detailed path. What is the source of your track? The track I posted is based on the email CalSky issued this morning. Maybe the track you show is based on newer data. I usually receive updates around early afternoon. If I'm home tomorrow when it arrives I'll post a new image. patrick On 17 Oct 2013, at 20:49, Brent Watson wrote:
