Finding myself on the Stellafane Website
While I was looking for references to the manual Dob setting circles I rememer seeing, I found a link to my Woodshop design on the Stellafane site! http://stellafane.org/misc/links.html#AltAz Way down, under "Dobs and Other Alt-Az Mounts", we find a link to "Woodshop Scope plans by Chuck" I'll be darned! I've never even been to Stellafane, but hope to make it before I die.
Chuck,
The magic of the world wide web. I was on this web page until SLAS moved our gallery (dead link now), it is very good if anyone is looking for ideas designing an observatory. http://obs.nineplanets.org/obs/obslist.html Me thinks the only SLAS member to have gone to Stellafane is Charlie Green. I've been to the Winter Star Party in Florida, Texas Star Party, and Riverside, they are always worthwhile. Erik While I was looking for references to the manual Dob setting circles I

Having family members who do not share my interests are a handicap when it comes to vacations. The last time we traveled to another city, we were each to have at least 2 days to see sites of our own choosing. I ended up with 2 hours, the girls got the rest. Sigh. Wow!!! What a cosmic convergence! I live in Springfield, Massachusetts. I passed through Springfield, Vermont just last night. I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never been to Stellafane. Honestly, observing in the hot, humid skies of the New England Summer isn't the greatest, especially with the light pollution and the dew problem. Heck, one night's worth of dew in New England would probably be enough to submerge Antelope Island....hehe. Regardless, Stellafane is an event you surely need to attend someday! -Rich On Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 3:35 PM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
