Hi Joe, Can you give exposure times for your 2 eclipse photos? The shorter exposure shows the prominences at 11 and 12 o'clock. Well done. Hope you are recovered from your trip. Debbie ---- Patrick <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote:

Hey Patrick. Remember when we went "eclipsing" in LaPaz. We tried to get some sleep on the lawn in front of the air terminal and got eaten alive by the little ants. Then they herded us off to the soccer field where the big ants lived. Ha! 36 hours of nonstop fun and I've got the photos to prove it.
Ah, yes. Hard to forget.
I think my most painful eclipse moment was for the 1983 eclipse in Indonesia when, while setting up the scope, I fell backwards onto a cactus. Ouch!
Any more eclipse stories out there?
Patrick

Thanks very much, Deb! I'll check the original photos at home and let you know. Best wishes, Joe
On Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.
I was at Starizona, an astronomy shop in Tucson Arizona, yesterday to pick up some accessories for a C8 I bought on Ebay recently. I noticed that they had these handy finder charts that showed where to align Telrad circles relative visible stars to end up with the object of interest centered. I thought this was clever and might be useful, so I bought the ones for Messier objects. At the store, I didn't really pay any attention to who the author was. Imagine my surprise, after I got home and finally noticed that the author was Brent Watson. Given that the address of the company was in Bountiful Utah, I assume that this is the same Brent Watson I knew from the Salt Lake Astronomical Society. Bill
The very same (you assumed correctly) -- I got mine from the man himself, and yes, they are quite handy. --- Lockman <lockman@aznex.net> wrote:
