On the morning of Monday, July 7 before sunrise, Mecury rises at its maximum apparent enlongation from the Sun and is within 2 degrees of Venus. Mercury will not be visible to the naked-eye on sunrise. It is a thin crescent of 0.2 magnitudes at this enlongation. Over the next week, it will remain within 2 or 3 deg of Venus and will brighten to -1.1 mag through 8/16.
