Just curious but "Advanced Training Sessions" (ATS) being so popular following SLAS events I'm just wondering if there might be interest in an occasional event, similar to ATS that would happen in the evening but not be associated with any event beforehand. Kind of like the L&O outings but in the evening (and with less smelly food <g>). Is there interest? ??? patrick
Sounds fun -- might be fun to combine this was some sci-fi movie we'd enjoy. Patrick, the radio club not only has the meeting after the meeting, but also a meeting before the meeting for those who can't make the late dining meeting. But, that is not what you are talking about, but it is something worth considering. I agree with Joe. It has been too long since I saw the Blob. But, where & how? Buy the meal or a potluck? 73, lh On 7/26/2012 6:31 PM, Patrick Wiggins wrote:

I'd like to offer my hangar as a possible place to view the movie. I have a projector, bluray player, and pretty good sound system there. The screen is about a 140 inch diagonal. There are most of the conveniences of home, but no AC. I do have a portable swamper we could use to take most of the heat out. Or, we could open all of the doors, but then the mosquitoes would also be invited, and DEET required. Of course, that would more than likely mean that we would need to meet for dinner in Bountiful. It would also need to be Monday through Friday night, preferably a Friday. ________________________________ From: Larry Holmes <larry@kijoda.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, July 27, 2012 4:10 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Evening non LO? Your hangar is at SkyPark, yes? Make it October so we don't have to have a paramedic standing-by for dehydration and insect issues. ;-) (I work 1 mile south of Brent's hangar. Summer in South Davis sucks, especially in steel out-buildings.) Not that I'm not gratefull for the offer, Brent. But an air-conditioned living-room often trumps the warm glow of...whatever we have... On Fri, Jul 27, 2012 at 4:30 PM, Brent Watson <brentjwatson@yahoo.com>wrote:

Guess I'll have to forsake the Blob for Mosquito ('55). Remember to bring blowtorches or flamethrowers... 73, lh On 7/27/2012 4:30 PM, Brent Watson wrote:

Interest and ability are two different things. Yes, I'm interested. Can I participate? If it happens in the evening and on a weeknight, almost certainly not. Have fun!
We'll just bring the projector to your work. Dan On Jul 27, 2012, at 4:17 PM, Chuck Hards wrote:

Joe, I never know if I'll be working the next day until the afternoon before. It is impossible for me to make any plans, weekends or otherwise. This year I've had about 3 weekends off since April, with no notice beforehand. Even when I do get a day or two off, the house and yard have been so neglected in the meantime that I have to tend to those issues instead of doing something fun. Just glad I have a job at this point.
I certainly understand about the job, Chuck! I hope we can all get together someday. -- Joe ----- Original Message ----- From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Cc: Sent: Friday, July 27, 2012 4:57 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Evening non LO? Joe, that's why I posted my vacation time. I'm off from Aug 10 through the 19th. That's my window of opportunity. Not interested in movies. Just lunch with friends. On Jul 27, 2012 10:28 PM, "Joe Bauman" <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:
