Full moon over Wellington, NZ... Here is something a bit random, but none-the-less astounding. It is a 3 minute video clip of the full moon rising over Wellington. It was shot on Jan.28, 2013, a calm summer evening, as people gathered on the Mt. Victoria Lookout point to watch the moon rise. The video is one single real-time shot, sans manipulation. The camera was placed on a hillside over 1/1/4 miles from the Lookout point, and was shot with the equivalent of a 1300mm lens. Watch this in expanded version for best effect and have the sound on. https://vimeo.com/58385453
Great! Thanks, I'm passing this along. - Joe ________________________________ From: M Wilson <astro_outwest@yahoo.com> To: Utah astronomy blog <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2013 8:00 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Moon Full moon over Wellington, NZ... Thank you, Thank you , Thank you. That is one of all time favorite things to do with a telescope. Soooooo majestic and awe inspiring. Cool, very nice clip. I've actually seen deer silhouetted against the rising (and setting) moon in the telescope. Never to be forgotten.
http://epod.usra.edu/blog/ John Hollenhorst of KSL 5 did a story last night on the 10PM news about Upheaval Dome and the risk of asteroid impacts. He and I shot video at Upheaval Dome on April 1 that was used in his story. He emailed me at midnight to say how cool and weirdly coincidental it was that Brent Watson's image of Upheaval Dome was the featured Earth Picture of the Day. Seth
That was a good story. I saw the story on the ksl website. Wonderful pictures Brent. We ought to have a star party out there. I'd like to go back to Canyonlands and Arches. I have unfinished business there. Debbie On Wed, Apr 17, 2013 at 8:43 AM, Seth Jarvis <SJarvis@slco.org> wrote:
