I really am not sure, Steve. Left HI at approx 9:50 P their time, 5 hr red eye arriving LAX something 6:30A their time, gaining 2 hrs due to zone changes, Got into SLC near 10 A this AM. Even w/a nice nap (I generally do not sleep on planes), I am still in a fog. If you are coming to the cleanout (politically speaking) Sat., I can give it a try. I do suspect if you can get Dan to do it, you would be better off, as he is just a marvel around electronics. Me, I still miss the tubes, Also, was nearly a steady 78/79 deg F for the two weeks we were there, so need to get adjusted to local wx. BTW, reading a really remarkable book "The Coldest Winter", by David Halberstam. About the political side of the Korean War. MacArthur vs Truman, etc. Very insightful, but not an easy read. 73, lh On 2/28/2012 2:13 PM, Steve Fisher wrote:

Want to read something more interesting about war, Larry? Try this: http://www.amazon.com/DONT-TREAD-Photographs-Revolutionaries-ebook/dp/B00762... And if you don't have a Kindle you can download a free Kindle app here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=sa_menu_karl3?ie=UTF8&docId=100049... You can download it as easy as pi and it installs quickly. Then you have a free Kindle on your PC, Mac, Blackberry, iPad, etc. Best wishes, Joe ________________________________ From: Larry Holmes <larry@kijoda.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2012 2:40 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] OT, Radio or Ham? What about the Spanish-American War? I'm probably going to write about Utah in that conflict (including the Philippine Insurrection). Joe, how about stories of Utah Civil War veterans? There weren't many - Brigham Young told the Saints to stay out of the war. My Civil War ancestors are all on my father's side, whose family didn't become LDS and move to Utah until after the 1930's. My Utah/LDS/pioneer ancestors on my mother's side all stayed true to BY's "advice". Thanks, Kim, That would be a great subject, but I've been collecting photos of Utah's involvement in the Spanish-American War since the '70s, including some fabulous glass-plate negatives. Also, I've got other great illustrations, including a big spread in the Deseret News when the men came home (a newspaper I found in an antique store) showing drawings of their daily lives in the Philippines. In the early1970s I interviewed all the Utah veterans of that war who were still alive, and I have a couple of tapes of that. I recently purchased ten largish photos of their activities in the Philippines. So I'm just thinking it's about time to put together a project that I've been involved in for 40 years.
