We're nearing the 48-hour count down (it's nearly 8:30 p.m. at this time) to our first lunar eclipse in years, but this has me worried. Looking at this page http://local.msn.com/where-to-see-it-total-lunar-eclipse-coming-tax-day-eve-... it's looking kind of iffy. After having invested in a couple of new pieces for my camera and refurbishing an old equatorial mount to carry my other camera, (and I'm sure others have done the same) it'd be a shame to have to wait until October. Does anyone else have a better outlook for Mon-Tue? However, I think the two graphics are kind of cool. Tom Sevcik
"...it'd be a shame to have to wait until October." It'd be a _real_ shame to have to travel to Europe of Africa to see it! The next total lunar eclipse visible from Utah will be April 4, 2015 - pre-dawn. Fingers crossed for clear skies tonight! Seth, the October eclipse this year is visible from Utah. The moon will be setting after totality ends, in a penumbral state. It is not visible in Africa at all, which is in daylight during the eclipse. On Mon, Apr 14, 2014 at 7:36 AM, Seth Jarvis <SJarvis@slco.org> wrote:

Shoot! You're completely correct. This is what I get for looking at eclipse diagrams before getting coffee. Good catch. Thanks. I'm still at work, having been up since 4 AM. This is my 8th day straight, the first 5 were ten hour workdays, Saturday was 9, yesterday was 7. Had today scheduled off for weeks but so understaffed that I've had to put in the hours to get the project done. If I can't get away from work early enough, I'm going to have to scale back my plans for tonight. I think our customers plan their projects around astronomical events. It happens every stinking time. Grumble.
