I just posted a couple of new images . . . The first is a new version of the Orion and Running Man Nebulas.
Tyler, You should be extraordinarily proud of your Orion nebula picture. With amateur equipment, the quality of your M42-43 picture is approaching the league of professional work done using large observatory telescopes like David Malin' photograph M42-43 on the cover of his classic _The Color of Stars_. I concur. In fact, Tyler, have you considered giving lessons? Thanks, to all, for the nice comments. I won't respond individually, but I do appreciate the feedback. I would consider "helping" to teach a class. :) I consider myself to be quite new to the astro-imaging game. As such, I don't really think that I am qualified to teach a class. However, being new, I still remember what it was like when the imaging discussions sounded like a different language! I can relate well to the difficulties of breaking into the game. What about simply making arrangements to do an evening of imaging and observing, where people could come to watch and ask questions. That might be a little less formal.... and a lot of fun. I would be willing to trade some teaching for some imaging time with the scopes at the observatory! Or maybe some time with that C-14/Paramount!! :) Let me know what you think might work. I'll second that notion. Would you be willing to conduct a class or two at the observatory this season? Works for me. Let me know when you'd like to do it and I'll reserve some time on the Big Scope and advertise the session in News. Patrick
To help make an imaging session at SPOC a success, I'll do what I can to keep the surrounding area dark! If we can turn the old dome so that the opening faces west, and I can get a good ladder to stand on, and someone to chase the brass, I can include the lights from oncoming traffic... ;) Just kidding. Great pictures Tyler. Quoting Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net>:

Finally had the time to look at your album, Tyler. There's obviously a lot more going on than just beginner's luck. Move over, Rob Gendler. P.S. The bird shots are great, too. On Mar 24, 2005, at 4:15 PM, Tyler Allred wrote:
