Fellow SLASer's I just attended a remote sensing symposium in Denver. Landsat 5 was celebrated on its 25th birthday. Landsat images are free. Landsat images can give a great view on how the earth is changing over time. Urban sprawl and deforestation are examples of what can be seen using satellite imagery. Many other examples were noted. The conference also had a lot of talks on unmanned aerial vehicles. They can be used to monitor forest fires or hurricanes for example. I'm curious because of how close it happened after sunset (I did not get to see it because I was in a movie that didn't get out until 25 minutes after the pass).
