For a number of years I’ve been promoting the July 20th Apollo 11 Moonwalk anniversary to become a nonpaid federal Holiday, similar in legal status to Flag Day. Space Exploration Day could become a popular holiday for families and communities. It is backed by four U.S. Presidential Proclamations. One of the proposed family traditions for the proposed holiday is to drink Tang, the breakfast drink of the Apollo Program astronauts. My friends and I have been getting together on/around July 20th for the past 10 - 15 years to launch model rockets in celebration of what we've called "Moon Day". I think that would be a great idea to make it a nonpaid federal holiday - so I've signed the petition. The problem is that July already has the Fourth, and in Utah, the Twenty-Fourth. It would be a bit much to have three holidays in the month. And I've always thought 12 April would be a great day for a space exploration holiday (first human in space) patrick

I think the key is that it would be more like Flag Day than July 4th. I.e. everyone would still have to go to work. I think this would be a good way to acknowledge one of humankind's greatest technological feats.
