Re: [Utah-astronomy] Utah-Astronomy Digest, Vol 195, Issue 2
Just a heads up.... I work (volunteer) at the Union Station where the "Big Boy" will be... we anticipate up to 80,000 people per day in the area. Parking is very remote with bus shuttle services to the Union Station. The front runner Ogden station is 1 block away from where Big Boy will be... and a very pleasant walk... you might want to consider taking the front runner to get to Ogden... There will be a lot of food venders throughout the area also.... Kay Hargis 1. Possible L&O date conflict (Chuck Hards) 2. Re: Possible L&O date conflict (Joe Bauman) 3. Some have bailed on L&O in favor of the locomotive. So I put the question to the entire L&O group, do we want to go ahead with it on the 11th or postpone a week or two, to allow the railroad buffs to see the engine in Ogden? The Winchester park sun party is on the 18th, but as we start at 1:00 and they end typically at noon, that shouldn't be a conflict. We can also just go ahead with the 11th for whomever shows-up, but have another one in a couple of weeks after that. My work schedule is finally starting to lighten up a bit. Let me know, not much time left to decide. Thanks! ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 6 May 2019 10:15:48 -0600 From: Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Possible L&O date conflict Message-ID: <D3054B9B-3BF9-4939-B38D-E2BB53E50CF8@yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii I vote to postpone. Wanted to take the train from Durango to Silverton but there was a forest fire last year. Been to a few outdoor LG railroads in Southern Utah. It's causing traffic jams, which is saying something. Not eclipse quality traffic jams, but bad for up there. While I personally won't be going up to see Big Boy, I would understand if we postponed for those who will. dave On Mon, May 6, 2019 at 10:29 AM Debbie Whitaker <astrodeb777@gmail.com> wrote:
