Star party, Friday May 7, Provo South Fork Canyon - help needed!
I'm hosting a star party for a local high school in Provo's South Fork Canyon next week, Friday the 7th, at 0-dark-thirty (more specifically, sunset is about 8:30, fully dark by 9 p.m.), and would like a few other scopes and operators to show up and help with the crowd control. I think about 40 folks are expected, but it could be more. Please RSVP if you think you can help, whether or not you have a scope. I'm planning to bring my 16". I'll be sending another message out next week with additional details. This is a reasonably dark site for being only 15-20 min. outside of the city. Thanks in advance for helping! /Rich
Richard, There are three star parties next Friday (including yours) calling for scopes. I know I can't attend the boy scout one, and so if I can go and that is a IF right now, it would be to the school one that needs lots of scopes to show up or yours, if you don't mind a little 10 inch scope. Either way, my son will be coming with the 8 inch and he'll run one or the other. I'll let you know. Lots happening in life right now. Any help is appreciated. It's funny actually calling a 10-inch scope "little". We've come a long way, haven't we? :) /R --- On Thu, 4/29/10, Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> wrote:

Maybe we'll see the return of the Big Dobs. In recent years refractors have been in vogue. Maybe we're all just getting too old to haul that big glass around and we say things about how nice the image is in a lighter easier to handle but ultimately less satisfying refractor. Size does matter. There is a 25 Obsession around, I've seen it and through it. If only my 15 would arrive . . . . Jay On Fri, Apr 30, 2010 at 3:23 PM, Robert Taylor <Rob.Taylor@digis.net> wrote:

Joe, this had slipped my mind and I am over-committed for tomorrow. I can't make it this time, sorry! On 4/30/10, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:

Because we got two responses from folks who couldn't make it, and nobody saying tomorrow was good, I think we need to put it off for a month or so. Thanks, jb
I'm really craving L&O right now, but an unexpected bathroom re-tile job has my weekends booked solid for a while. On 4/30/10, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:
